I prefer the solid colours personally, but I do like the braid. getting hold of school hats generally seems to be a problem, particularly ones which actually fit! I have taken blazers to dry cleaners, but I remove the school crest before doing so. xx

The ones with stripes and braiding are best x Mine's just navy blue, 1950s, 100% wool x Taking it to the dry cleaners could be embarrassing x Straw boaters are harder to obtain(?) xx

It is a lovely blazer, I agree. I have a couple of similar ones in my collection- navy with "rope" braiding. I love to see a girl in a blazer, particularly traditional wool ones.
